Doug was born in 1978. He grew up in the county outside of a small coal mining and farming community in Illinois. He attended high school at Georgetown-Ridge Farm High School, located in Georgetown, Illinois.
Doug received his first tattoo around age 14. That event opened the window to a whole new world. He has always been into art and tattoos. He would spend hours during his early years exploring tattoo magazines, amazed at the work by some of the great artists.
Doug began tattooing in 1996. Since then he has worked throughout Illinois and Indiana. He has spent the largest majority of his career tattooing in Indianapolis, Indiana. While in Indianapolis Doug worked at Skinquake Precision Tattooing and Piercing and Artistic Skin Designs, Inc.
Doug believes that tattooing is a very critical typle of commercial art. Success or failure of any project has implications for the client, and forces an extra degree of dedication and flexibility on the part of the artist, and the clients’ participation helps maintain a flow of fresh images and ideas for the artist. On the other hand, tattooing is also constrained by things such as size, budget, pain tolerance, and the client’s taste.
Doug’s passion clearly shows in his work, and continues over into his personal life as well. When Doug isn’t tattooing he enjoys spending time alongside his wonderful family and pursuing his other hobbies and interests.
